There is more power in one positive thought than you may think. The way we look at things changes what we see; our reaction and ultimately the outcome of our choices.
You are in charge of your happiness and the kind of day you will have. Your thoughts are powerful and how you feel really does matter. If you think something is going to go wrong, it usually will. If you think you are going to have a bad day, your day will not go well.
If you notice yourself having negative thoughts, and you realize it may be affecting your overall happiness and peace, you don’t have to take the complete overhaul of your thinking on, all at once.
The best starting point is making a conscious decision to create one positive thought, first thing in the morning. This one little thought can change your world, forever.
Unfortunately, for many people, the first thought is not necessarily a positive one.
It is very common, upon awakening, to think about how tired you are or the fact that you don’t want to get up and do life. For many of us, the first thought that we have is about either not wanting it to do something that day or regretting something we did or didn’t do the previous day, or days. Many of us have ongoing issues in our lives that hijack our first thought of the day for a period of time.
Whatever the case, thinking about anything that doesn’t make you feel good or focusing on what is wrong when you open your eyes affects your entire day. You go from one negative thought to another and, before you know it, you are on a spiral of seeing what is wrong instead of what is right. And inevitably, you will find what you are looking for.
Knowing that you will find what you are looking for, look for the good. Have faith that everything will always work out ok. Take this one moment, and own it. Choose to make this thought an uplifting one, even if you have to consciously turn it around.
When you begin, you might notice a negative thought. That is perfectly okay. Becoming aware of the thought and its significance is the first step. Now practice turning it into a positive thought.
