Life is Short. Live it Now.
Everything we do matters, and you matter. We have been given this precious life and it is ours to do with what we choose. We all know that tomorrow is not promised, but are we living our days as if they may be our last?
“Dance before the music’s over, live before your life is over.” ~ Unknown Author
For most people, the answer is ‘no’. We often spend so much time doing the things we feel we must do, that we save the things we want to do for another day. We take the things that bring us joy and passion and put them off again and again. We think we will always have time. Our whole lives we have been taught about priorities and being responsible. Because we want to “be good” it makes sense to place our responsibilities first.
The truth is, you can do both.
So when we say, “Live each day as if it is your last”, we do not mean that we must accomplish everything on our bucket list today. What we mean is, stop putting yourself and everything important to you last because tomorrow may not come. In reality, today is the only day we ever really have.
Are you doing your best to make the most out of today?
Here are some tips to help ensure that you are living your best life today:
1. Wake up early
Starting the day off early in the morning will give you a jumpstart at productivity. Making the most out of your day is much easier to do when you give yourself plenty of time to do it. Making a checklist each morning can help you map out your day and put things into perspective. By simply getting up one hour early, you can add something to your day that you would have put off, something that you want to do, for you.
2. Exercise and eat mindfully
Our bodies are the vessels that we use to manoeuvre through this life and taking proper care of them is a must. Daily exercise will charge your batteries and give you the energy needed to make the most of your day. What we put into our bodies is just as important as how we use them. A balanced and nutrient-filled diet will fuel your body and mind. Think about what you are eating and listen to your body.
3. Make time for your loved ones
We all have people in our lives that we love deeply. Don’t miss an opportunity to let these people know how you feel about them. Make time for your loved one’s today, as tomorrow is never promised.
4. Do that thing you have always wanted to do
We all have that one thing we have always wanted to do. And most of us have a million reasons not to do it. Whether it be dancing, painting, figure skating, skiing, singing, climbing, writing, horseback riding, or any other thing in the world, do it. It does not matter if you think you will be “successful” at it, what others will think or say, how old you are, how short or tall or young you are, do what brings you joy. If it is not something you can complete today, make a choice and a goal. Work towards that goal no matter how “unreasonable” you or others think it is. And, just do it! Do it now because if you leave it for later it may never happen. Do it for you, because you deserve to live the life of your dreams.
In the end, you are responsible for your happiness. Do not wait another day to do what makes you shine. This is how you bring your light into the world.
Life is meant to be lived and living can only happen right now, today, right now … at this moment.
Live your life as fully and beautifully as you possibly can and you will inspire others to do the same. Your ultimate life’s purpose is to be happy!
